Mauritius climate from January to April
The Mauritius Islands have inverted seasons compared to Europe, this is because they are located in the southern hemisphere. The climate is tropical, characterised by a hot and rainy season from January to March, and a particularly cool and less rainy season from June to September.
Let us take a closer look at what the climate is like from January to April, taking the main island Plaisance into consideration, and whether it is advisable to plan a holiday during this period, because given that the location is in the path of tropical cyclones, it is very easy for them to occur. In fact, the official cyclone season runs from 1 November to 15 May, although it must be said that they are much more frequent from the end of December until mid-April.
Climate in Plaisance from January to February
The maximum temperatures in January and February are 29/30°. The climate is very humid due to the rainfall. In fact, both January and February are the wettest months of the year but also the wettest. The archipelago is located in the trade winds, and although the humidity is high, thanks to the winds that blow all year round, the feeling of heat is reduced. However, it should be pointed out that rainfall, as is typical in the tropics, comes in the form of showers or thunderstorms that do not last long.
The waters are very warm and bathing is possible all year round. In January, the water temperature is around 27° and in February around 28°. This is the best time for diving.
Climate in Palisance from March to April
Temperatures at this time of year drop a few degrees, with a maximum of around 29° in March and around 28° in April. However, although the mercury drops a few degrees, the humidity remains high due to rainfall, although showers occur less frequently and are generally shorter than in January and February.
The hours of sunshine are not excellent, as in March there are 7 hours of sunshine and in April they drop to 6
The water temperature remains warm, so good bathing is possible.
