Summary

Are you in the process of booking and wondering if your idea of going to Thailand in the summer is a good one? What kind of climate could you find at this time and what temperatures to expect?

As mentioned in the article on the climate from January to April, the climate in Thailand is divided into three distinct seasons, a dry season (November to February), a hot season (March to May) and a rainy season (June to October).

In these months, therefore, we are between the end of the dry season and in the middle of the rainy season.

In this article, as Thailand is very large, we will consider the capital region of Bangkok and the main tourist resorts

Thailand’s climate in May and June

The middle of May in Thailand marks the end of a very hot period where it rarely rains and the temperatures can be uncomfortably hot. With the end of May and the beginning of June, however, the rainy season begins and the cooler weather finally returns! Even in June, however, very hot days can occur during the breaks between disturbances.

The rainfall during this period also falls quite violently, affecting about half of the days. The minimums drop a few degrees as mentioned in Bangkok and the maximums do the same but the humidity generally rises. The sea water during this period remains warm, as throughout the year at around 30 degrees.

Thailand’s climate in July and August

July and August in Thailand are characterised by the continuation of the rainy season. Around 380 mm of rain falls in Bangkok during these 2 months and more than half of the days are affected by rainfall. Humidity remains high and average temperatures, although with good showers, remain around 25 for lows and around 33 for highs. Sea still averaging 30 degrees.

So if you are planning a trip to Thailand in the summer, you will have to prepare for rain, heat and monsoons.
